Indian goes online
NEW DELHI : The Indians abroad can update
themselves with the latest information on
matters relating to them through internet.
The on-line edition of Overseas Indian, a
monthly publication of the Overseas Indian
Affairs Ministry launched on 28th
February 2006.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh launched the print
version at the inaugural ceremony of the Pravasi
Bharatiya Divas ( PBD ) 2006 in Hyderabad in
January 2006.
Launching the online edition, OIA minister
Vayalar Ravi said the website will provide
almost every information on Indians residing in
foreign countries.
The overseas Indian can be accessed at
www.overseasindian.in
The unique feature of the online version is that
it would provide an interactive platform to the
members of the 25 million strong diaspora spread
in 110 countries.
Through the online version NRIs can also send
their feedback, hold discussions, contribute
news, give suggestions and spell out their
grievances for redresal, Ravi said.
The site, which displays the latest issue of the
publication in PDF format, will be updated daily
with news about and from the Indian diaspora.
The inaugural issue of the Overseas Indian,
launched by the Prime Minister, was in five
languages – English, Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati
and Telugu. |
